Shannon completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Northern British Columbia, and is now in our lab conducting work on fishers for her MSc.  She is focusing on the Columbian fisher population in the Cariboo region of BC, addressing key knowledge gaps relating to female fishers.  More specifically, she is using radio-telemetry to understand the reproductive capacity and success of the females in relation to home range attributes and habitat.  The goal of this project is to improve our ability to define critical habitat for this threatened population.

This work is being conducted in partnership with Dr. Joanna Burgar, Meso-Carnivore Specialist with the Conservation Science Section of the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.  Dr. Burgar also is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences here at TRU.   Rory Fogarty with Consus Management Ltd is another important partner on this project.  Funding is provided by the BC Government.
