Michelle Matson

Michelle completed her honours undergraduate degree in the Natural Resource Sciences program at TRU.   After working a summer on our White Lake Project, Michelle became interested in using cameras in culverts to track the timing and frequency of snake passages.  Her honours thesis continued this work by asking how the frequency of snake culvert usage varied according to the time of year.  One thing her work demonstrated very clearly is that racers (Coluber constrictor) appear in culverts far more often than other snake species in the same community.  Why exactly this is happening is going to take more research.
