Stephanie conducted her thesis work on rattlesnakes in the south Okanagan valley. Her project was centred in the White Lake Basin,  site of the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory and the Biodiversity Ranch operated by the Nature Trust of British  Columbia.  Her work  focused primarily on rattlesnakes, but the more overarching goal was to understand the impact of roads on populations of herpetofauna in the region.  Stephanie  used telemetry and also collected roadkill and thermal information from across the landscape.  She won the Governor General’s Medal for outstanding graduate thesis at TRU.

Partners on Stephanie’s project were the National Research Council,  Environment Canada, and the Nature Trust of British Columbia.  Stephanie’s co-supervisor on the thesis was Dr. Christine Bishop from Environment & Climate Change Canada.
