Jade extended our research on the road ecology of Western Rattlesnakes in the South Okanagan.  More specifically, she conducted ‘Phase 2’ of a project that started with the MSc thesis of Stephanie Winton.  Jade intensively monitored road kill rates for rattlesnakes (and other snakes, and some amphibians) following a considerable amount of cost and effort  in mitigation.  Jade also examined the propensity of different snake species to use ecopassages designed to minimize road kill mortality..

Co-supervising Jade’s project was Dr. Christine Bishop from Environment & Climate Change Canada (and an Adjunct Faculty Member at TRU).  Partners on the project included the National Research Council, the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and The Nature Trust of BC.
