Mae Frank

Another fisher project! Mae completed her undergraduate work at Thompson Rivers University in the Biology Department and is now engaged in graduate research focusing on the threatened Columbia Fisher Population in central British Columbia. She is examining the diet and prey base of these animals, conducting surveys across different forest stand types for squirrels, cricetid small mammals, hares and grouse. In addition, she is working on a diet analysis for individuals in the population using scat samples and, when available, gastro-intestinal contents.

Mae’s work is being conducted in partnership with Dr. Joanna Burgar, Meso-Carnivore Specialist with the Conservation Science Section of the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.  Dr. Burgar also is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences here at TRU.   Rory Fogarty with Consus Management Ltd is another important partner on this project.  Funding is provided by the BC Government.

Mae’s project is conducted on the traditional and unceded territory of the T’exelcemc and Tsq’escenemc;     Mae can be reached at frankm112 [at] mytru.ca
